Farewell

We finally made the tough decision to close dew.

Over the past six months we had to make many changes to dew in order to balance the demands of opening a new restaurant and being able to maintain some quality in our family life. Most of these decisions decreased the attractiveness of dew, alienated our loyal customers and what we ended up with was something we were not truly proud of. The single best part of dew for us was the many great friends we made. Nothing is better than going to "work" and spending the day with friends, engaging in great conversation and providing something that people value. We felt like we had created a special place - and one that we loved being at. We feel sad about dismantling that place. Ultimately though we needed to do what we did to ensure our family's future. We've learned much.

We continue to enjoy many of the relationships that began at dew through Rooster. We truly value and appreciate these relationships, as they are the single biggest unexpected benefit of restaurant life.

For those of you who miss dew, please stop by Rooster. We are now serving banh mi sandwiches on Fridays during lunch. Having fire in the kitchen allows us to do much more and we are constantly working on new things - (big changes coming in January).

For those who miss walking down from campus - please come by in January for pizza. A great family moved in across the street and brought a pizza oven with them. We can't wait for you to meet Eric and Julie. They also brought some wicked good pizza skills and we are combining wonder-twin style to create a pizzeria that you will love.

Kaiizen Benefit Dinner - September 10, 2009

Kaiizen Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to improve the lives of children all over the world. This September Kaiizen has collaborated with the residential treatment center for teenage boys in Orem (Telos) to do service in Swaziland Africa. This trip will provide a rare opportunity, through serving others, for the boys at Telos. While in Africa, Kaiizen Volunteers working along side with Telos staff and residents will help build houses for child-headed families (families were both parents have died of AIDS), as well as volunteer at the AIDS clinic in Swaziland.

We have some great friends from Ghana who live two houses down the street from us. We have been eating each other's food for a couple years and now we are enlisting Milli's help to throw a big party at Rooster. We will be preparing an authentic African dinner Thursday night at Rooster, with all proceeds going towards Kaiizen's Africa trip. Please come and enjoy some great food for a great cause.

Rooster Opening Friday June 5

We have probably announced four or five different opening dates, but this is the real one (barring unforeseen inspection craziness). Front of the house installation is 98% complete and the kitchen should be finished up tomorrow. I can't wait to transition from worrying about floors and cabinets and plumbing to worrying about food (I feel so much happier at Super China than Home Depot). So thank you for your patience, see you soon...
