Very few bands really rock anymore. Shark Speed rocks. Even their myspace url rocks - and url's don't lie. We've got to know the fine boys from Shark Speed well and are excited for the show. Also playing that night will be Johan the Angel who we got to see at the Sego festival with daughter Sage and really dug. We have a small, intimate place that these guys will be collectively blowing out.
We will open around 6 Saturday November 8 and the show will start around 8.
The next Dew Exhibit will feature work by Shark Speed lead singer Thayne Fagg.

Dew Exhibits open Saturday October 18
We are excited to be adding something really cool to dew. Dew Exhibits will feature local artists who will be given free reign over all of our white walls and track lights. The first exhibit will feature photography by Aimee Devine, a film student at BYU. Aimee has great photographs of cities and her work fits right in with what we've attempted to create at dew.
To kick things off right we are hosting a special opening this Saturday at 8pm. Aimee's friend Drew Capener is an accomplished and talented songwriter and will be performing for everyone Saturday night. Drew is part of The Color Gypsy, www.myspace.com/thecolorgypsy.
Our efforts to fit in Friday will feature city street-inspired food, notably Hong Kong street waffles and an Asian dumpling bar with boiled Chinese dumplings and Korean-style potstickers from our good friend Amy.
Please come and enjoy this event. Aimee's work will be exhibited for three weeks at dew so that we can all enjoy it a little longer...

Caution: Contents are pretty hot
My last week in Portland last summer was spent alone feverishly working to finish all the house projects so I could leave, but was also filled with plenty of eating. After the Last Supper at Pok Pok with work friends we went, as tradition dictates, to Pix Patisserie a block down Division. They were serving Chocolate Habanero ice cream. Revelation. I have been experimenting to recreate this and have everything but texture about where I want it. I have been giving late night samples to people who may have interest. Only a couple have been able to finish the 2 tablespoon portions. Most have reactions similar to those expressed so perfectly by Jake, below:

There is still a little of this batch left if you would like to sample, however the lesson I learned from this batch is that 2 habaneros is probably enough and 5 is definitely a bit much.
